China's NBS Manufacturing PMI rises in June to 49.0, up from predicted

China's official Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was 49.0 in June, up from 48.8 in May, according to the latest statistics released by the country's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Friday. The market had predicted a result of 49.0.

The indicator recovered from a five-month low but remained below the 50-point barrier that distinguishes growth from contraction.


The NBS Services PMI fell to 53.2 in June, down from 54.5 in May, but above estimates of 50.8.

Reaction to the AUD/USD

The Australian Dollar fell as a result of the mixed Chinese PMI numbers, with the AUD/USD approaching 0.6600. At the time of writing, the spot is trading at 0.6605, down 0.05% on the day.
